We have walls!

In spite of all the rain we have had this spring, progress continues on our new home. They started framing this weekend! The crew was working hard on Saturday putting up the first floor. We were so excited to see some wood up as we drove around the corner. We spent quite some time just walking around the structure marveling that it was really happening. We are getting a little worried that our neighbors might think we are a bit crazy as we spend so much time just looking at things like empty lots (prior to construction), giant holes (when they dug the foundation), and now half built sturctures! Although, we're sure they understand (or at least hope they do!) and most likely did the same types of things themselves. If not - oh well, we are first timers and super excited!!! Stay tuned for more updates...

A solid foundation...

Our giant hole has now been filled with something...a foundation. We were a little surprised (pleasantly) this weekend to see the progress made on the house. We knew they had poured the foundation walls, however I guess we didn't fully grasp what that meant until we saw it ourselves. Its starting to actually take shape as a house! How exciting! We've had a decent bit of rain lately which may push back our schedule a bit, but currently they are scheduled to start putting up the frame next week. We will keep you all posted. (Assuming anyone is still interested or even reading our blog at this point :) )

The First Signs of Construction...

The work has begun on our new house. They starting digging this week! The first step towards our beautiful new home. We have never been so excited to see a hole in the ground in our entire lives. They are pouring the foundation this week, with framing expected to start May 12th!

We even brought our friend Amy, who was visiting us from Arizona, out to see our big hole!

Our Nephew and Easter in Buffalo

We finally got a chance to meet our little nephew, Ryan Michael! as we spent a wonderful Easter weekend in Buffalo with Michael's family. Ryan was just as cute as we expected, if not even more so. Saturday he took a nap in Michael's arms, sleeping for close to three hours, while Michael watched golf with the sound turned on. He loved it! (Michael that is, alothough Ryan look very happy too).

We also got a chance to spend some time with sweet little Ella (Michael's cousin's daughter). She grows cuter by the minute. Honestly.

And no Easter with the Maslowski's would be complete without a butter lamb! It's a Polish thing.

Our Little Piece of America!

Well, it took a few weeks but we finally got the "SOLD" sticker on our lot sign. A very exciting moment for sure! Next step...build the house.

Our House!

We bought a house!!! Sort of. In actuality we put in a contract to have a house built. If all goes well with the construction, we will move in sometime in August or September. We are so excited and I am sure the next 5 months or so will take forever, although right now we have lots of work to do in picking out floors and carpet, and such.

The house is in Leesburg, VA (about 30 miles or so west of DC). Its located in a cute little community with lots of trees and a big park in the center. It has a very rural feel but is very close (like 3 miles) to things like a movie theater, grocery store, and restaurants.

Here are some pictures of our new neighborhood and the spot where our house will be once its built:

Here's the view across the street from our lot.

This is what our house will look like only ours will be a light yellow/cream color

And here is the park in the center of the community

Be sure to check back often as I am sure we will be adding new pictures as the house goes up! And we can't wait to have everyone over once we move in. Please remember you are all always welcome in our home. We feel so blessed to be able to buy a house and want to share it all with our friends and family.

Baby Ryan!

We are officially an Uncle and Aunt!! Sweet little baby Ryan Michael Sobierajski was born on Saturday, February 28th, weighing in at 8 lbs and 1 oz. Mom Alysia was a trooper going through roughly 12 hours of labor. Both Ryan and Alysia are doing great! We cannot wait to meet him. Congratulations Todd, Alysia, Trevor, and Riley; as well as new grandparents Frank and Maryjane. We all feel truly blessed by this newest addition to the family.
Welcome to the world Baby Ryan!!!!!
